It's a new world, and they are just fighting for their place to be in it. In the last century homo-superior has arisen, even claimed it's own territory of the coast of Ecuador. A man by the name of Erik Lehnsherr who controls magnetism has dubbed his island Genosha. He has opened its borders to mutants and mutants only.
In the last ten years another mutant powerhouse has come along. Charles Xavier has opened the Xavier School for Gifted Youngers outside Salem, New York. He aims to bring the message of peace that mutants are just like anyone else. They want only to live alongside their homo-sapien brothers in harmony.
In Genosha they have also opened the Lehnsherr Institute for mutant residents, and mutants from all over the world to attend. It like Xavier's offers a high academic goal whilst teaching it's students to control their powers, but they also boast a second goal to combat Xavier's X-Men.
